Choose the beach around the day your family can comfortably enjoy. Access, shade and a simple return plan can matter more than a long list of places to visit.

Compare the practical details

Use the comparison on the Beaches page to narrow your coast and setting. Mont Choisy offers a long bay; Blue Bay brings the marine park into the decision; Gris Gris belongs to a scenery outing rather than a swimming plan.

Treat the choice as a shortlist, not a safety rating. A beach name, calm-looking photograph or old report of a swimming zone does not describe today’s conditions.

Check the facilities you actually need

Confirm the public access point, the walk from your drop-off and whether a pushchair can reach the place you intend to sit. A paved parking area does not establish a step-free route over the sand.

Ask about current toilet and changing arrangements. If shade, food or a specific facility is essential for your group, confirm it for your chosen stretch and time of day. Public beach access does not include hotel facilities.

Keep the day simple

Prepare drinking water, sun protection, a change of clothes and what your children need for breaks. Keep valuables to what you can comfortably look after.

Pick one beach as the main outing and arrange the return from a clear meeting point. Let the length of the visit follow your group’s energy rather than a schedule of consecutive beach stops.

Your planning checklist

  • Public entrance and drop-off point
  • Shade and a comfortable place for breaks
  • Toilet and changing arrangements
  • Current water conditions and local advice
  • Return transport and a meeting point
