In this guide
A local SIM can keep maps, booking contacts and messages within reach during your Mauritius holiday. Start with your phone’s compatibility, then compare the tourist package you will actually buy. An eSIM changes how the connection is installed; it does not by itself tell you what calls or data are included.
Compare the current tourist packages
Prices and advertised benefits were checked on 9 October 2026. These are local tourist offers for use in Mauritius. Keep the published currency when comparing them; your card issuer may apply conversion fees. The operator’s checkout and current terms control the purchase.
| Operator | Physical SIM | eSIM | Validity |
|---|---|---|---|
| my.t | €30 | €30 | 30 days |
| Emtel | €30 | €30 | 30 days |
| CHiLi | MUR 900 | MUR 999 | 30 days |
Listed prices include VAT. Read each operator’s current conditions and confirm the checkout total.
my.t offers a 30-day tourist connection
my.t lists its tourist SIM or eSIM at €30 including VAT for 30 days. The advertised package includes unlimited 5G data, SMS and MUR 200 of airtime. It is offered to visitors aged 18 or over travelling for tourism or business.
Bring a valid passport and the address of your stay. Online ordering, airport collection and Telecom Shops are listed, with an airport digital kiosk for eSIMs. If you will stay longer than 30 days, contact a Telecom Shop about the next arrangement.
Emtel also offers physical SIMs and eSIMs
Emtel’s tourist booking page advertises a 30-day package at €30 including VAT, with unlimited 5G data, SMS and MUR 200 of airtime. Its order form lets you select a physical SIM or eSIM.
The booking process asks for your passport and stay details. Emtel lists airport collection and showrooms, and its FAQ explains that airtime or data bundles can be added after the initial 30-day benefit period. Check the terms of the bundle you choose for a longer visit.
CHiLi lists different prices for SIM and eSIM
CHiLi advertises a physical tourist SIM at MUR 900 and a tourist eSIM at MUR 999, including VAT. Both list 30-day validity, unlimited data and local SMS, MUR 200 of talk time and unlimited calls within the CHiLi network.
Collection is listed at CHiLi outlets and its SSR Airport counter. Take your passport and evidence of where you will stay, and read the registration requirements for your circumstances before ordering. Calls to other networks are different from the included CHiLi-to-CHiLi calling benefit.
Choose around your phone and the way you travel
For an eSIM, confirm that your exact phone model supports it and that the device can accept the connection. Keep access to Wi-Fi while following the operator’s installation instructions. With a physical SIM, check which existing SIM you would remove and keep it somewhere you can find at the end of the trip.
A data allowance is not the same as unlimited calls to every destination. Check international calling, tethering and any fair-use or speed conditions that matter to you. We have not independently tested these networks, so this comparison does not rank their coverage or speed.
If you rely on your home number for banking messages, understand how your phone will handle both lines. Check your home operator’s roaming settings and charges before leaving that line active. Download essential addresses and confirmations as a fallback.
Make collection part of your arrival plan
Have the order confirmation, passport and accommodation details ready when collecting a local SIM. Allow time for the registration and activation steps, particularly if a driver is waiting. The airport guide helps you put connectivity alongside baggage collection and your onward transfer.
For a short visit, compare these packages with the roaming allowance you already have before buying anything extra. For a longer stay, check what happens when the initial tourist benefits end rather than assuming they renew automatically.
Your planning checklist
- Check phone and eSIM compatibility.
- Keep your passport and accommodation details ready.
- Read the current package terms and final checkout total.
- Save key contacts and addresses offline.
