New Year’s Eve 2026–2027 in Mauritius

New Year’s Eve 2026 falls on Thursday 31 December, welcoming Friday 1 January 2027. Mauritius already has dated hotel dinners and celebrations published for that night. The useful choice is between a reserved evening, a quieter meal, a family gathering and a public coastal setting, with access, cost and the journey home settled before the countdown.

Meaning and traditions

Keep the years clear. This guide concerns 31 December 2026 into 1 January 2027, not the night of 31 December 2027. Friday 1 January and Saturday 2 January 2027 are public holidays. The evening before them is a separate date, so an event reservation and the following holiday arrangements need separate attention.

Choose the evening before choosing the venue

Start with the people in your group. A late party, a long gala dinner and an early family meal are different evenings. Decide whether staying until midnight matters, whether children will attend, how much walking is comfortable and how far you want to travel home. Those decisions are more useful than a list of supposedly unmissable parties.

The events below are drawn from dated programmes and current venue information checked on 3 November 2026. An announcement confirms what the organiser has published, not remaining seats, your admission or an unconditional guarantee that outdoor entertainment will take place. Use the linked source and the final booking confirmation for the terms that apply to you.

Grand Baie and the north

Grand Baie offers a choice of restaurants, hotels and nightlife venues rather than one centrally organised New Year party. Choose a specific reservation and address. A venue’s ordinary opening hours do not prove that it admits walk-ins on 31 December or that its usual menu and prices apply.

For visitors staying elsewhere, the return journey is part of the decision. Agree the pickup place, time or waiting arrangement, and a way to contact your driver. Do not assume that moving between several venues will be easy after midnight. A single evening in one place can be more enjoyable than spending the countdown looking for entry elsewhere.

The east coast and Le Morne

The reviewed announcements include Palmar, Grand Gaube, Poste Lafayette and Le Morne. These are different locations, not neighbouring stops on one evening circuit. Choose a celebration that fits your accommodation and the distance you are willing to travel after a late night.

A beachfront dinner does not automatically include fireworks, beach access for non-guests or transport. The published programme must establish each of those details. If the event page gives a setting and theme but no rate or admission policy, obtain that information before committing to a room or arranging a long transfer.

What is actually announced about fireworks

Current programmes explicitly mention fireworks at LUX* Grand Baie, SALT of Palmar and Le Méridien Ile Maurice. Heritage Resorts also describes a New Year countdown followed by fireworks along the Bel Ombre coastline, without the exact public viewing or admission arrangements being established here. These are venue announcements, not one official island-wide show.

A fire show, light choreography and fireworks are different forms of entertainment. Do not infer one from another. Nor does a private hotel display guarantee a good view from a particular public beach. Weather, safety decisions and the organiser’s final arrangements can change outdoor programming.

For children or anyone sensitive to sudden noise, choose a place where you can move away comfortably. Keep the group together and establish a meeting point. Watching from a suitable public place does not give permission to enter hotel grounds, restricted areas or private property.

Compare the complete price, not just the headline

The published examples include different currencies and different inclusions. A per-person dinner price is not the same as a room package or a mandatory festive supplement. Keep the quoted currency when comparing offers, and check the actual payment currency and terms before paying.

Ask for the complete total for your party, including the applicable child ages, drinks, taxes or service charges, transport and any mandatory meal. Do not assume that half board covers every restaurant or event. The Oberoi’s published 31 December policy, for example, explicitly describes its gala price as food only; other venues set their own rules.

If a programme names a dinner but gives no public price, the missing figure is not a reason to estimate one. Obtain a dated quotation. A quieter restaurant meal or a self-catered evening may suit a smaller budget, but this guide does not invent a low-cost public event where none has been verified.

Children, dietary needs and a quieter celebration

Confirm the minimum age, child rate, meal format, seating and whether an activity requires adult supervision. A children’s club operating during the day does not establish overnight childcare. A resort described as family-friendly may still have age-restricted restaurants, rooftop spaces or late events.

For dietary requirements, use the actual festive menu. A regular restaurant menu may not be served on New Year’s Eve, and a buffet description does not establish how allergens are handled. Obtain the venue’s answer before booking if a particular requirement is essential.

A quiet evening is a legitimate choice. Choose accommodation or a meal with a manageable return, keep plans simple and avoid assuming that any coast will be silent at midnight. Ask the property about the entertainment planned near your room if noise matters to your group.

Plan the return before the first toast

Arrange the outward and return journeys together. Record the exact venue entrance, pickup point, contact number and any agreed waiting arrangement. If you need child seats or an accessible vehicle, confirm that specific requirement rather than assuming it is available.

Do not rely on an ordinary map estimate to plan an inflexible connection around a large celebration. Equally, do not invent road closures or traffic restrictions before the authorities announce them. Recheck current local notices close to the night and leave sensible flexibility in your schedule.

If your group plans to drink, choose a confirmed driver or transfer. Keep the accommodation address available offline and make sure everyone knows the return plan. A late celebration is a reason to make the journey simpler, not to leave it unresolved.

The first morning of 2027

Leave 1 January enough space. LUX* Grand Baie publishes a New Year’s Day brunch at Beach Rouge from 12:30 to 16:00 at MUR 12,000 per person, with visiting guests welcome by reservation. SALT of Palmar publishes separate New Year’s Day dinners. These are distinct bookings with their own terms, not automatic extensions of New Year’s Eve.

If you have a flight, an accommodation move or a booked departure on 1 January, plan around that commitment before choosing how late to stay out. Check meals and transport for 2 January as well, since it is also a public holiday.

How to assess events that have not been announced

A venue may be active without having a published New Year programme. This guide does not accept an old poster, a normal weekly DJ night or a previous year’s fireworks photograph as confirmation for 31 December 2026. Unverified events are not included as bookable recommendations.

Before paying, match the year, venue, organiser and ticket conditions across the announcement and booking page. Keep the confirmation and the stated cancellation terms. If the pages disagree, obtain a written clarification from the organiser. For LUX* Grand Baie, the overview and detailed programme show different timings for some dinners; this guide flags that discrepancy rather than selecting one without confirmation.

Questions about visiting

Can I book a hotel celebration without staying there?

LUX* Grand Baie and LUX* Grand Gaube explicitly welcome visiting guests by reservation. Do not apply that policy to other venues; confirm non-resident admission for the event you choose.

Are the published events still available?

The sources confirm announcements, not remaining inventory. Only the venue or booking confirmation can establish availability for your party.

Is there a single public island-wide fireworks event?

No verified announcement of a single public island-wide event is established here. Some venues announce private displays; access and public viewing are separate questions.

Are Christmas 2026 events also Christmas 2027 events?

No. A programme running from December 2026 into January 2027 belongs to that festive season. It does not confirm any event for December 2027.

Does Andeor operate these celebrations?

No such claim is made. The event register cites independent organisers. Andeor experiences and any transfer arrangements have their own confirmed offers and terms.
