Easter 2027 in Mauritius
Western Easter Sunday falls on 28 March 2027, with Good Friday on 26 March. In Mauritius, Easter can combine Christian worship, family meals and seasonal hotel activities, but it is not a national public holiday in the published 2027 list.
Meaning and traditions
For a family holiday, decide whether worship, a shared meal or a children’s activity is the priority. A single well-chosen occasion can be more enjoyable than a timetable of several events. Check whether a meal is included in your hotel plan, whether an activity is reserved for resident guests and whether children need an adult to accompany them.
Do not import another country’s holiday rules into Mauritius. Good Friday and Easter Monday do not appear as additional national public holidays in the official 2027 list. Individual schools, employers, churches and businesses may have their own schedules. Verify the arrangements that affect your trip.
If you are seeking Orthodox Easter, do not assume that the Western date applies to your church. Confirm the relevant community’s calendar and service arrangements. The 28 March date in this guide refers specifically to Western Easter.
Holy Week and Easter are more than a long weekend
For churches following the Western calendar, Palm Sunday is 21 March, Good Friday is 26 March and Easter Sunday is 28 March 2027. Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus in Christian belief. Services have their own liturgical purpose and are not visitor entertainment. Confirm the parish, language, time and visitor arrangements before attending.
A hotel brunch, children’s egg hunt or restaurant lunch is a separate event. No 2027 Mauritius Easter programme is established by the sources reviewed for this article. An Easter page from 2026 is not a current booking offer. Choose such activities only after the venue publishes a dated announcement, with prices, ages and access conditions.
