Mauritius time, sunrise and getting to excursions on time
Understand Mauritius time and plan early departures, sunset outings and alarms without confusing home time with local time.

Mauritius is on UTC+4. Use the time at your destination when reading a meeting instruction, and check the date as carefully as the hour. Your home country's seasonal clock changes can alter the difference even when the island's time stays the same.
Put the booking in Mauritius time
Save the calendar event with the Indian/Mauritius time zone and confirm how your phone displays it after arrival. For an early start, test the alarm the previous evening. A departure time, check-in time and hotel pickup time can all be different. An excursion beginning at 10:00 does not imply you should leave your hotel at 10:00.
Daylight is not a fixed appointment
The Mauritius Meteorological Services table gives dated sunrise and sunset information. Use the date of your outing rather than a photograph's caption or a generic year-round time. Local terrain, cloud and the position of the coast affect what you actually see. A sunset cruise's meeting time comes from its confirmation, not directly from the sunset table.
Build the day backwards
Start with the required arrival at the meeting point, then allow for the drive, parking and finding the group. For a cruise call, use the ship's instructions about ship time and local time. Do not convert them from memory. If you are choosing between a long outing and a short session, compare the whole time away from your accommodation. Andeor's short-activity guide explains why one hour on site can still occupy a morning.
Can I use one time difference for the whole year?
Check your actual travel dates. Daylight-saving changes in your country can change its difference from UTC+4.
